HOW DOES ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY DISCLOSURE INFLUENCE THE PROFITABILITY AND SHARE PRICE OF LISTED CONSUMER GOODS FIRMS IN NIGERIA.
Abstract
The study examined the influence of environmental sustainability on profitability and share price of 21 consumer firms in Nigeria from 2013 to 2023. The study used multiple regression technique to analyse its data. The findings revealed that environmental sustainability disclosure has positive influence on profitability and share price. In conclusion, environmental sustainability disclosure significantly transforms the effectiveness of certain governance mechanisms, particularly profitability and share price. This suggests that senior management teams should not treat audit functions merely as statutory obligations but as strategic governance infrastructure capable of enhancing share price effectiveness.
